Gonna Miss Them Pigs…

Yeah, I know the grammar’s a little off but I am living in the south now. Anyway, the new Padres del Fuego is coming on line soon. Or I think it is because Disney just made it public knowledge and that usually means a week or less. It looks pretty good in some ways and just like Tortuga in others but the lag is almost gone and it might be fun to explore a “new” island. For about an hour. Or maybe a half an hour. And then everyone realizes it’s just a new facade on the same old place. Back to level grinding.

Hopefully, this will be a harbinger of new things to come. The POTCO developers went full guns and churned out three new islands in record time. The glitches were kept to a minimum and there are rumors of the Kraken in the air. There are plenty of scenarios in which the Kraken  can play a part and some of them are pretty good. The best case would be a new story with the Kraken as the final boss. It’s the best because there is no way they could offer a new story without raising the rep and skills limits. Right? Otherwise, a new story would be meaningless to everyone with mastered pirates.

The worst (worse?) case would be an “Event” like The Curse. The Curse was fun. Once. Then it was troublesome and the green sky was annoying. Can you imagine a “Kraken Event” where once an hour the Kraken attacks at random? Yuck. Another scenario takes us back to the early days of POTCO. Remember the clock that always counted down while we were sailing? That was originally a “Kraken Timer.” The idea was to release the Kraken to attack your ship when the timer got to zero. They could never really make it work though. On a side note, anyone out there remember the hurricanes?

Anyway, it looks like Big D is going full tilt towards upgrading the Caribbean. I just might stick around long enough to find out what’s going to happen next. Still gonna miss them pigs though…
